Alta Fox Capital’s 2023 Undergraduate Small-Cap Stock Pitch Competition

Alta Fox Capital will be sponsoring its 2023 Small-Cap Stock Pitch Competition, bringing together undergraduate students from across many universities and clubs. Students will compete in teams of up to five and submit their pitches via email for the opportunity to be selected as a finalist and present to a panel of distinguished industry professionals. The Finals will be held in person at Harvard University.

TIMELINE
Pitch Submission Deadline: Saturday, October 14, 2023
Teams of 1 -5 undergraduates must submit via email their pitch in PPT/PDF format to info@altafoxcapital.com with the subject line "2023 Small-Cap Stock Pitch Competition" by Saturday, October 14th at 11:59 PM EST. Team Information located in the CONTENT GUIDELINES must be provided in the deck when submitting the pitch.
Finalist Notified: Saturday, October 21, 2023
Participants will be notified via email no later than Saturday, October 21 on whether they have been selected to advance to the final round. Competition finals will be held on November 5th at Harvard University. This is an in-person event and teams are responsible for travel and lodging arrangements. Additional information regarding location and schedule will be provided at this time.
Finals: Saturday, November 4, 2023
The competition finals will be held Saturday, November 4 in person on Harvard's campus. The finalist teams will present in front of a panel of industry professionals. Teams will pitch their ideas in a 10 minute pitch, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A from the panel.

• Individuals can not participate in more than one pitch submission
• If participating as a team, teams must designate one person to be the team contact
• International participation is permitted

• Pitches must be a Long idea on a single stock
• Pitches should be in PPT/PDF format, maximum 15 slides
• Individuals/teams should select a stock with a market capitalization of greater than $300 million and not to exceed $2 billion
• Stock can be non-US but market cap threshold must be based on US dollar equivalent
• Permitted Exchanges: US / Canadian / Australia / Europe
• The pitch should briefly introduce the company, but then should focus on the author's analysis and opinion, rather than reporting widely known information about the company
• All content must represent the author's own work

• Is the thesis supported and accompanied by compelling arguments, a clear analysis and sourced information?
• Is there a clear understanding of the company and the industry or sector being pitched?
• Is the valuation of the company and company’s financial state clearly explained?
• Is the market’s consensus view on the stock explained and is a case made for why it is wrong?
• Are the risks and/or variant view on the stock addressed in addition to an assessment of what could go wrong with the thesis?
• Are there catalysts or drivers that will lead to how the thesis is to play out?
• Is a case made for an asymmetric risk/reward in the stock?
